Product Owner

The Agile Product Owner is responsible for leading an Agile Team to make fast, local content decisions. The role is responsible for identifying Customer needs, prioritizing work, guiding the work through their respective team Kanban and development in alignment with Program and Solution Visions and Roadmaps. They work with the larger Product Management team to understand their needs, prioritize features & stories.

Responsibilities of Product Owner

  • Preparation and Participation in Program Increment (PI) Planning for Product Area
  • Participate in recurring program backlog refinement and prep for PI planning. Including story definition, providing the clarifications necessary to assist the team with their story estimates and sequencing. The PO also drafts the team’s specific objectives for the upcoming PI.
  • Maintain the team backlog with input from System Architect/Engineering and other stakeholders,
  • Lead just-in-time story elaboration of features with the team into user stories for implementation. While any team member can write stories and acceptance criteria, the PO has the primary Apply Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) – POs collaborate with their team to details stories with acceptance criteria and acceptance tests.   • Accepting stories as done which includes validation that the story meets acceptance criteria and has the appropriate, persistent acceptance tests, and that it otherwise complies its Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Understand the architectural enabler work in collaboration with System and Solution Architect/Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructures.
  • Participate in team demo, team retrospective, Agile Release Train’s (ART’s) Inspect and Adapt (I&A) workshop, and help produce the PI system demos for the program stakeholders.
  • Program Execution
  • Coordinates dependencies with other POs. This often occurs in weekly PO sync meetings.

Skills & Experience required

  • Experience working in IT and/or Software Development project/program management is required.

  • Proficient with Agile development management tools (JIRA preferred).

Product/Solution Manager

The Product Management and Solution Management roles are responsible for leading an Agile Release Train or Solution Train respectively. They are responsible for identifying Customer needs, prioritizing work, guiding the work through their respective Kanban and developing the in alignment with Program and Solution Visions and Roadmaps.

They work with customers to understand their needs, prioritize Capabilities, Features, & Stories, create the Solution vision and roadmap, define requirements, and guide work.

These roles represent prioritization and content authority that spans two levels:

  • Program – Product Management is accountable for content decisions for the Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
  • Large Solution – Solution Management has content authority for Solution Trains

Product Management and Solution Management prioritize work and schedule Features and Capabilities for Release using the Roadmap, validate customer response, and provide fast feedback.

Responsibilities of Product Management

  • Understand customer needs and validate solutions
  • Understand and support enterprise portfolio work from the enterprise that is needed from their release train
  • Develop and communicate the program vision and roadmap and defines the features of the system.
  • Collaborate with System and Solution Architect/Engineering, to define and maintain the Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs) to help ensure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements. .
  • Manage, prioritize, sequence the flow of work through the program Kanban and into the program backlog.
  • Participate in Program Increment (PI) planning by presenting the vision, which highlights the proposed features of the solution, along with any relevant upcoming Milestones.
  • Define releases and program increments including new features, architecture, and allocations for technical debt..
  • Work with System Architect/Engineering to understand Architectural Enabler work.
  • Participate in demos and Inspect and Adapt (I&A) workshops which include the assessment of Metrics such as delivered business value achieved versus plan.
  • Build an effective Product Management/Product Owner team
  • Collaborate with Solution Management including participation in solution backlog refinement and prioritization, as well as splitting capabilities into features, and NFRs, as the case may be.
  • Participate in Pre- and Post-PI Planning with the Solution Train stakeholders to define the inputs, milestones, and high-level objectives for the upcoming PI planning session.
  • Collaborate with Release Management and the key stakeholders on progress, budget, release strategy, and releasability of their elements of the solution.

Responsibilities of Solution Management

  • Solution Management plays a similar role to Product Management, but at the large solution level is responsible for over delivering capabilities that need to be implemented across the release trains and enterprise as a whole.
  • Work with portfolio stakeholders, customers, ARTs and Solution Trains to understand needs and build and prioritize the solution backlog.
  • Develop and communicate the solution level vision, roadmap, solution backlog, and solution demo activities as well.
  • Continuously collaborate with the Solution Train Engineer, and Solution Architect/Engineering to keep aligned to the architectural solution intent.
  • Work with Release Management where applicable.
  • Participate in pre- and post-PI planning wit the ARTs to ensure the requirements capabilities are understood and assist with integration, dependencies and sequencing of the capabilities.

Release/Solution Train Engineer

The Release Train Engineer role facilitates the product area Agile Release Train (ART) release events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. They communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement. The Solution Train Engineer (STE) plays an equivalent role in delivering solutions across the enterprise, facilitating and guiding the work of all agile release trains and suppliers for a large solution or value stream. These roles would include processing definition, Agile Scrum/SAFe Agile based Software development, Hybrid Agile based module development along with cross functional communication, software technical project management, requirements traceability, source code control, test case management and defect tracking.

These positions provides clear resource loading of software team and capacity planning of the software. These positions also represent the team at Release level to report status of multiple Agile feature teams to leadership.

These roles will be required to work within the global matrixed organization. This roles will work with multiple development partners to build scalable software and module development lifecycle processes. The Module will include Software and database interfaces for process, projects and tools used to build IT systems on premise and on cloud.

Responsible for multiple projects, teams and systems. The roles require exceptional versatility including: project leadership, technology, and Agile planning and communication.

Responsibilities:
